Varanasi has two railway stations-Kashi and Varanasi Junction (also Cantonment Station). The Rajdhani Express from Delhi or from Calcutta is your best bet to reach Varanasi in 8-9 hours. Even though there are not many trains running directly between Delhi and Varanasi, most Delhi-Calcutta trains pass through Mughalsarai, which is 10 km south of Varanasi.Varanasi Cantonment (Cantt) is the main station. Located in the heart of the city there are a number of trains that ply between Varanasi and Delhi, Agra, Calcutta, Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
All major towns and cities are connected by rail. The Cantt. Station is located in the heart of the city and the Mughal Sarai Junction is 18 km away. From here you can get prepaid taxis to the city.
Varanasi, on (National Highway) NH2 from Calcutta to Delhi, NH7 to Kanya Kumari and NH29 to GoraKhpur is connected literally to the rest of the country by good motorable, all - weather roads.
