The best time to visit Srinagar is during summers, between April and June. The weather is gloriously pleasant at 23 C or chilly and windy at 6C. This is the season when Srinagar experiences rains, but the showers are brief. December to March is the peak winter season when the temperature dips below zero. August is the warmest month as the mercury can touch 30 C.

March-November April to October is when the snows have melted and the climate is cool and pleasant. It is when the valley is at the height of its beauty - a riot of flowers and trees --and the waters of the Dal lake are just right for a leisurely shikara ride.

Srinagar enjoys cool, pleasant summers and freezing winters. Summer temperatures range from 12A?C to 24A?C while icy winters are accompanied by heavy snowfall and temperatures that drop from 7A?C by day to -5A?C at night. There are frequent showers in the months of July through September.

Clothing

Woolens throughout the year are needed. However, pack some extra warm stuff, especially socks and gloves, if traveling in winter. For women especially, the traditional phiran is the best option, and they are available in myriad colours and look very pretty.
