The most suitable time to be in Shimla is between October and November, when it is neither too hot nor too cold. But if wish to enjoy the snowfall, then plan your trip between December and February. The summer (April to June) sees the city flooded with people seeking solace from the scorching heat of the plains. Between April and October is the best time to visit Simla. It is a time when melting snows give way to pleasant weather and the Summer Festival with its cultural events envelops Simla in a cheery, carnival-like atmosphere.

Simla is known for its freezing winters that bring with them snowstorms and temperatures as low as - 4 deg C. The last few years have seen heavy snowfall in and around the town, responsible for roadblocks and slippery roads. However, summers are pleasant with temperatures often rising up to 30 deg C.
