Puri railway station is a major railway station having links with several of the important cities in India. The railway station is easily accessible from the main town area.Direct train from Kolkata (11 hrs) and Delhi (37 hrs), the latter passing through Lucknow (28 ½ hrs), Varanasi (23 ½ hrs) and Gaya (19 ½ hrs).
Puri is connected to Berhampur (Orrisa), Bhubaneshwa, Kolkata, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Chennai, Tirupati, Trivandrum, Varanasi etc.
Railway Statiom
Puri has a railway station also. It is connected to other cities in Eastern India by South East railways. Please refer to the railway timetable to know about the train timings. Bhubaneswar falls on the main Calcutta-Chennai line, so most of the trains have a stop here. The Coromandal Express leaves from Calcutta at 2.30 pm and arrives in Bhubaneswar at 10 pm. The return train from Chennai leaves about 4 am and arrives Bhubaneswar in the morning next day. The Howrah-Puri Exp leaves Howrah at 10 pm, arrives at Bhubaneswar at 5.40 am the next morning, and goes on to Puri, arriving at 8.10 am. This train returns to Calcutta, leaving Bhubaneswar at 8.10 pm, and arrives in Calcutta at 5.30 am the next morning. There are other many slower trains between Calcutta and Bhubaneswar. There are direct trains to, Remuna and Varanasi.By Road
Puri is very well connected by a network of roads and road transport to all major towns of Orissa and surrounding areas.The nearest Bus Stop is ‘Konark’ which is about 65 Kilometers from Bhubaneswar Bus Stand and about 35 Kilometers from Puri Bus stand. The buses are plying from Bhubaneswar as well as Puri to the permanent site with regular intervals from morning to evening.
Puri is very well connected by road to all the major towns and cities in Orissa and neighboring states. The best way to go from Bhubaneswar to Puri is on one of the Canter minibuses leaving from the Old bus stand in the center of town, the new bus stand, and from the petrol station opposite the Ashok Hotel. They take a modest an hour to arrive. There are also bigger buses going to Puri, but they are slower. It is best to get an express bus to Puri, which makes only one stop on the way.
