The climate of Pondichery is warm-humid with mean temperature 28-30o C in the summer and winters. Monsoon is prevalent from October to March. Cotton clothing is apt all through the year.

The mercury swings to a low of 25 C in winter to a high of 40.8 C in summer. Pondicherry is hot and humid throughout the year. From October to November the evenings are cool. The monsoons are between May and August, and in December. Though you can plan a visit any time of the year, it would be ideal to come here between October and February.

Winter is generally a pleasant time to visit Pondicherry and summer is to be avoided. The ideal time to visit is during the festival season when Pondicherry is transformed in colourful celebration.

Weather

Pondicherry is hot and humid most parts of the year. Temperature varies between 26 and 38 degrees C and the summer months of May and June can be particularly trying, with temperatures rising up to 40 degrees. Monsoon lasts between July and October followed by winter in November. Seasonal showers brought by the north east monsoon around this time of year are not uncommon.
