Mysore - ಮೈಸೂರು

The Brindaban Gardens at krishnarajasagar Dam (20 km from the city) give you an idea how the Mughal gardens must have been in their heyday - all the fountains work and they are illuminated every evening. These ornamental terraced gardens with swirling fountains and fairy lights attract thousands of visitors each day. Although Somnathpur Temple (35 km from the city) is the most complete of the Hoysala temples, it somehow lacks the impact of those at Halebid and Belur.

This charming city, renowned through the ages, was the capital of Mysore rulers. The sprawling and beautiful palace, the lovely Chamundi Hills, Sri Krishnaraja Sagar and Brindavan Gardens are all great delight to the tourists who step into this magic city, still exhuding old-world charm. Mysore is situated at distance of around 140 km from Bangalore, the present capital of Karnataka. The city extends from latitude 12deg 18' in the North to longitude 76deg 42' in the East. Mysore is well connected through road and rail networks with other parts of Karnataka and India.
