How to reach

Road

Mussoorie is motorable from Delhi (270 km), Chandigarh (215 km), and of course Dehradun. There are regular buses, both state transport as well private luxury coaches that will ferry you to Mussoorie from these cities.

There are daily bus services from Delhi via Meerut, Roorkee, Chhut¬malpur, Mohand and Dehra. The Uttarakhand State Transport Corporation (UASRTC) provides non-air conditioned, deluxe, and even express buses for Mussoorie to neighbouring areas.

Bus Stand

From the ISBT bus stand, located at the Kashmir Gate in Delhi.Regular Buses leave every 30 minutes for Dehra Dun. Cost is Rs. 121. The journey takes 6-12 hours, depending on road conditions. Buses stop often to pickup passengers until they are full, at which point they continue straight to their destination. Seats are lightly padded, but do not recline. Legroom is extremely limited. Female staff eling alone should sit with other women. Some buses have "Ladies only" seats. Drivers may play Hindi movie music. Deluxe Buses leave every hour for Dehra Dun. Cost is Rs. 202. The journey takes 6 - 9 hours.Seats are wider, legroom is better.

Mussoorie does not have a direct rail link, the nearest being is Dehradun (34 km). It is connected to all major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Allahabad.

Air

Dehradun's Jollygrant airport about 60 km away is the nearest airport, with regular flights to Delhi. From here, one has to hit the road. Luxury buses as well as cabs are easily available.

Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun, 58 km, is the closest airport. However, this airport does not daily flights so plan your trip in advance. From Dehradun, you can hire taxi services to Mussoorie.

Getting Around

Mussoorie is best explored on foot. Cycle rickshaws and horse rides are most popular. For sightseeing, it's best to hire a cab from the numerous cab stands/hotels. Rates are negotiable.

Travel Direction

The nearest airport is the Jollygrant Airport at Dehradun, 60 km from Mussoorie. Regular direct flights from here to the rest of the country are however few and far between. A better option is the nearest railhead, also at Dehradun. It is directly linked to major cities like Delhi, Howrah, Amritsar, Mumbai, Lucknow and Varanasi. The Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Delhi offers regular bus trips to Dehradun. From Dehradun, frequent buses ply to the Library or Gandhi Chowk and Kulri Bazaar at two ends of the Mall. There are also two nightly buses to Delhi from each of these bus stands while taxis depart from the Kulri Bazaar bus stand and the Library bus stand to destinations such as Chamba, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Simla and Delhi. The Tehri bus stand, 5 km from the Mall and east of Landour, has buses departing for Tehri, 5 hours away. Buses from this stand also go to Uttarkashi and Gangotri. Buses are also available for Kempty Falls during season near the Riviera Hotel Stand.
