Tourist places in and around Matheran
Matheran is dotted with about 33 lookout points -- many of them with quaint names -- from where you get spectacular views of the plains below or across the Western Ghats. You can hike your way to these through the woodlands.
Porcupine Point Famous for Sunset. A deep forest nearby can be easily seen. 'Prabalgad' can also be seen from this point. It?s around 4 km from main market.

The market is the area where the bulk of the activity is. You get good quality Shoes, Slippers, Sandals and other leather goods at good bargains here.
You also get various flavors of Chikki (which is a softer version of peanut brittle), local honey, fudge's (Chocolate and fruit flavours etc.) ice gola's and various drinks. In the center of the market is a garden.

The fort is situated at an altitude of 2300 feet. At the top is a tableland as wide and sprawling as the nearby scenic town of Matheran. The jungles that surround Prabalgad are thick and home to a wide variety of plant and animal life. The fort is marked by broken ramparts and protective walls that once formed layers of defense. To the south are a water tank and a Ganesh temple. The top of the fort has another lake, and is completely enveloped in thick forest.Some more points of interest are.
