How to reach

Air

The nearest airport of kullu is at Bhuntar at over 50 km is the closest airport. Cabs and taxis can be hired to reach the main city.

Rail

Jogindar Station, 166 km, is the closest railway station connected to Delhi and Chandigarh. Take a bus or hire a taxi to main Manali.

The nearest most convenient railhead is Chandigarh (357 km). The other nearest narrow gauge railheads are Jogindarnagar (126 km) with a change at Pathankot and Shimla (220 km) with a change at Kalka.

Road

It is located extremely far from Delhi but is a good and comfortable ride. Buses depart from Janpath in Delhi and National Highways link it to Chandigarh. Private tourist buses would be a better option. However, be careful if traveling in winter, since snow and fogs can disrupt services.

Kullu is on the National Highway No. 21. Motorable roads and regular bus services connect Kullu to Delhi 530 km, Pathankot 278 km, Palampur 164 km, Dalhouie 334 km.

Arrival and departure

Airport at Bhuner (10 km south of Kullu) served by Jagson. Kullu is on the main road from Mandi to Manali, and all buses pass through. For Dussehra, or a place to stay, get off the bus at Dhalpur (where the Maidan is), 2 km south of Akhara bazaar, where the main bus- stand is located.

Travel Direction

The closest airport to Kullu is 10 km away (52 km south of Manali) at Bhuntar and it connects the town to Delhi via Simla.By rail, the nearest narrow gauge railhead to Kullu-Manali is at Jogindernagar, 95 km from Kullu. One can also reach Chandigarh station from Manali, which lies 320 km away. Kalka (310 km) and Pathankot (325 km) are other convenient rail-heads. The road to Manali passes through the valley of Kullu and both towns are well connected by road to Simla (267 km), Delhi (611 km), Pathankot, Ambala, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Haridwar, Dharamsala and Dalhousie. Regular government and private buses run from the bus stand at Manali. Manali is also connected to Leh from July to October. In addition, local buses and taxis run daily between Kullu-Manali and Manikaran.
