Kovalam ranks second only to Goa among India's beach resorts. There is a lot less of it, of course, though many find the small bays between rocky headlands and the sharply rising gound behing more interesting than Goa's mainly flat straight beaches. Kovalam is only 12 km away but is the perfect place for seaside holiday. Starting from the east, Palma Beach is probably quietest, except at weekends when kids play football there.
