Being situated very close to the sea, Cochin-Kochi has a moderate climate, with heavy rains during June-August due to the southwest monsoon. Winter starts from December and continues till February. In summer, the temperature rises to a maximum of 35 deg C and 25 deg C in the winters. Annual average rainfall is 310 cm.

Climate

Cochin's climate can be classified as an equatorial type of climate. Basically, there ae three seasons, the Monsoon season extends from June to September. There is the relatively cool and dry season which extends from October to February, March, April and May are hot and humid, but breezes from the ocean cool the air slightly.
