Founded by Prince Jam Rawal in 1540, the cityof Jamnagar has an old world charm about it. The old walled city is dominated by the Lakhota Fort, and the Ranmal Lake that surrounds it. The museum inside the fort has fine sculptures excavated in 9th-12th C. The circular Darbar Gadh palace in the heart of the city was where the rulers (Jamsahebs) would hold public audience. The Jam Palace is still well kept and the royal family stays here. Inside the premises a small zoo is home to some exotic birds and animals. One can visit the same after taking prior permission, The Adinath and Shantinath Temples, covered with mirrors, gold leaf and murab are also worth a visit. The Marine National Park is 30 km away and is an archipelago of 42 islands with diverse marine life.
