How to reach Travel - Nearest Airport, Station and driving distances

Regular transport is available from Jammu. Buses are available from General Bus stand Jammu. JKTDC also makes available chartered luxury coaches and buses. Alternatively Taxis can also be hired from scores of Tour/Travel operators from across the city. Similar services towards Kud are available from Railway Station. Fares are pre determined by the Govt. and are subject to change.

Road

State transport as well as private operators connect Jammu to most cities and towns of north India. There are daily buses to Amritsar (243 km), Chandigarh (436 km), Katra (48 km), Srinagar (305 km), Patnitop (108 km) and Mansar (62 km). There are also tourist cabs that ply between cities but make sure the vehicle has an inter-city permit. For hiring, contact the Special Tourist Taxi Association (Tourist Reception Centre, Tel: 2546266, 2575380).

Bus Stand

The shrine is around 48 km away from Jammu airport and Jammu Tawi railhead. Both are well connected to all parts of the country. You can hire a taxi or a take a bus to the Katra Bus stand. This is where the yatra starts. Before commencing your trip to the shrine, obtain a yatra slip from the Yatra registration counter in Tourism center at the Katra bus stand.

Other buses run from the Tourist Reception Centre while the local transport buses start from the General Bus Stand.

Rail

Jammu has trains to all the metros as well as superfast trains to Trivandrum, Kanyakumari, Ahmedabad and Patna.

Trains from Delhi (12 ½ hrs), Mumbai (32 hrs), Amritsar via Pathankot or Jullundur, Lucknow (14 hrs), etc. Trains from Delhi run overnight and some like the Rajdjani Express are very comfortable and fast. From the Railway Express are very comfortable and fast. From the Railway Station, you can take a cab or minibus to Srinager. These days you can reach Srinagar within eight hours.

Railway Stations

Jammu Tawi is the most Important Railway Station of the Northern Railway, which serves both Jammu and Kashmir State. Air

Jammu is connected to Delhi and Srinagar by air. Airport (7 km. Indian Airlines office at Tourist Reception Centre.

Getting Around

The locals love the mini-buses that are quick and take you just about anywhere. Autorickshaws are aplenty, though you have to negotiate the rates. Cabs are available at designated stands.
