Best Time to Visit

April to November is the most pleasant time to visit Gangotri. Moreover, the gates of the temple too are open in the months between May and November after which roads tend to get blocked thanks to heavy snowfall.

Weather

Summers are exceptionally cool in Gangotri and temperatures rarely rise above 20 degrees Celsius. However, the freezing winters see the mercury drop below 0 degrees Celsius. The monsoon season often brings landslides in the months of May and June.
