    Best Time to Visit

March-May and September-November. We recommend avoiding the monsoons due to the frequent landslides that often cut off Darjeeling from other cities and disrupt airport and land services.

The best time to visit Darjeeling is between March to May and September through November. The weather during this period is generally clear and the charming hill town offers a spectacular view of Kanchenjunga and surrounding Himalayan peaks at sunrise.

    Weather

Darjeeling summers stretch from April to June and are a time of clear skies and pleasant weather with temperatures ranging from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. The summer is followed by heavy monsoon showers that make the weather cold and dreary. In winter there is a drastic fall in temperature to 2 to 10 degrees.

    Climate

Darjeeling's climate has five distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn, winter, and the monsoons. Summers (lasting from May to June) ae mild, with maximum temperatures rarely crossing 250 C. The monsoon season is from June to September, and is characterised by intense torrential rains often causing landslides. In winter, the average temperature is around 5-70 C. Occasionally, the temperatures drop below the freezing point, but snowfalls are rare. The annual mean temperature is 120 C.

    Clothing

Light woolens & cotton during summers & heavy woolen during winters. Carry your best raingear if traveling during monsoons. Heavy boots and raincoat are a must.
