Ajanta - Ellora Travel - Nearest Airport, Station and driving distances
By Air
The nearest airport to the Ajnata and Ellora caves is Chikalthana airport in Aurangabad at a distance of 112 km and 27 km respectively. Indian Airlines daily operate flight from Aurangabad to Delhi via Mumbai. Jet Airways and Air Deccan have also started their flight service from Auranagabad to Mumbai and Delhi. The nearest international airports to Ajanta-Ellora caves are Mumbai and Pune.Aurangabad, which is about 99 km from Ajanta and 30 kms from Ellora, can be reached directly from Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Udaipur airports.
By Train
The nearest railhead to both Ajanta and Ellora caves is situated at Aurangabad. Direct train link between Aurangabad and Mumbai is available as Devgiri Express and Tapovan Express run on daily basis. Direct train connection to Hyderabad is also available from the city. Sachkand Express ply in a regular basis from New Delhi and Aurangabad. Hyderabad, Delhi, Amritsar etc. There is an overnight train from Mumbai.Jalgaon (59 km from Ajanta) is the nearest station where you should alight while coming from Delhi or Mumbai. Two trains Tapovan Express and Devgiri Express depart daily from Mumbai to Aurangabad.
By Road
Regular tourist bus services are available to the Ajanta-Ellora caves from Aurangabad. The air conditioned deluxe buses ply on a regular basis. Ajanta and Ellora is connected with Mumbai, Pune, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Shirdi, Nasik, Dhule, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Indore, Bijapur, and Aurangabad by excellent road network in Maharashtra and neighbouring states.Bus Stand
There are numerous bus services running to Ellora from Aurangabad Central Bus Station, but the Maharashtra State Tourism Corporation (MTDC) Bus Service is most reliable.There is a luxury bus tour departing daily at 8:00 amfrom the MTDC office on Railway Station Road. In addition to Ellora, the tour also includes several famous sites in Aurangabad.janta Caves are connected to a network of excellent roadways with Mumbai, Pune, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Shirdi, Nasik, Dhule, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Indore, Bijapur, and Aurangabad.

Aurangabad (107 km from Ajanta and 26 km from Ellora) connects Ajanta and Ellora to Delhi, Udaipur, Jaipur, and Mumbai by air. It is also directly linked to Mumbai and Pune by rail and Jalgaon, a railhead on the Central Railways line, is 59 km from Ajanta. From Jalgaon on Delhi (20 hrs) Mumbai VT (7 ½ hrs) line. From Jalgaon station (where there is a tourist information counter on the platform) take a scooter rickshaw from station to bus-stand, and tehn bus to caves (2 hrs). Bus from Aurangabad to Ajanta (2 ½ hrs). The caves are 4 km from the main road, make sure your bus calls at the caves or you will have to walk.
