Best Time to Visit

November to March is the best time to visit the caves. December is also the time of the Ellora festival of music and dance at the Kailasa Temple. Summer visits are not advisable as the intense heat is not suited for spending the day out in the sun.

Weather

Ajanta and Ellora experience the extreme climate of the region with temperatures ranging from 40 degrees Celsius in the summer to a low of 9 degrees Celsius in the winter which lasts from October to February. The monsoon season lasts from June until September.
