The world heritage sites Ajanta- Ellora caves are wonders to the world with their pre-historic sculptures and exquisite stone carvings. UNESCO did not hesitate to declare the caves as world heritage sites in 1983.

Ellora

A world heritage site, Ellora has the largest collection of cave temple in India, unmatched for beauty or scale. An alliance with the Guptas introduced the dominant local dynasty in the sixth century, the Chalukyas of Badami, to the wonders of India's Golden Age. They and the succeeding Rashtrakutas used this vision to the full at Ajanta and Ellora. At the latter 34 temples were excavated from the soft stone of the Sahyadri Hills.
