Bara Bazar

If you love shopping, this is the place for you. This is the main shopping hub with stalls selling garments and other useful commodities. The main bazaar is the place, where the people are best seen in their traditional costumes selling products from farms and homesteads along with river crabs with little wicker baskets.

This is the main shopping area. The steep Zion street lined with garment stalls and music cassette vendors leads to the main bazaar where women hawkers sit under black umbrellas selling such exotic fate as river crabs in wicker baskets, shaped like purses.

This main shopping area of Aizawl provides glimpses of Mizo lifestyle. Mizos in their traditional costumes trade their wares and women weaving shawls can be seen work, at the ‘Weaving Centre'.

Luangmual Handicrafts Centre (7 km)

This is at a distance of almost 7 km by car. The 'Khumbeu' ceremonial bamboo hat is made here using waterproof 'hnahthial' leaves. A must visit place in Aizawl.

About half an hour's drive from Aizwal (7 km) is the luangmual Handicrafts centre. Khumbou, a hat presented to honoured people is made here from a slim bamboo called Sairil.

This museum is settled at Mc Donald Hill at the center of the town. Though small, it has an interesting array of historical relics, ancient costumes and traditional implements.
