Athirappilly and Vazhachal are popular tourist places of Kerala, located in Thrissur District.
Athirappilly water falls, approximately 80 feet in hight, situated in Chalakkudy river, originates from the Western ghats mountain ranges. Vazhachal water falls is just 5 km from Athirappilly.

The Dam is constructed in Chalakudy river and it is 65 km. East of Chalakudy town. The beauty of Athirappilly Water fall and Sholayar Dam can be enjoyed on the way to Sholayar.
From Thrissur,it is advisable to hire a cab to complete the Athirapilly - Vazhachal visit; It takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to reach the falls. There are also buses, but getting back, especially after 5:00 pm may be very difficult.
The Athirapilly falls - walk straight into the entrance to get the birds eye view from the top. Also climb down to the falls (there are steps) to experience Nature's beauty in God's own country.
