Two Day Trek at Munnar

Munnar is a hill town of undulating mountains and tea gardens. Due to its mountainous terrain, it has been highly regarded as a trekking destination for travellers to South India. Most of Munnar's higher reaches (7000-8500') are forested and notified as reserve forests. The ecology is grassland-shola type (high altitude montane forests). This is ecologically fragile but makes for great trekking trails.

Itinerary

Day 1 - We will start our trek from Chinnakanal nestled amidst the tea gardens. We have a good walk ahead, climbing gradually till we reach our camp at over 1600 m. The trek passes through mountainous terrain and through forests. We should arrive the camp at Suryanelli by late afternoon.

Day 2 - We will start our trek from Suryanelli camp and move through high altitude forests towards the edge of the Anaerangal lake. Snaking across a large area, this lake is placid and beautiful and a source of water for farmers downstream. Many tribal colonies here farm spices and cardamom which grow abundantly in the salubrious climate here. After a picnic lunch, we will depart for next destination.
