About the Course Presidency's fairways are narrow and tight, its greens are excellent but the real challenge is the sea breeze. Noteworthy is the unusual hazard at the 16th hole: an elephant pit.

First built in 1827 then re-designed by Peter Thompson with the Indian Ocean winds in mind. Excellent greens, tight fairways and an unusual hazard at the 16th hole, an elephant pit. It is not a difficult course; not to narrow, not too long and yet not an easy course to break par.

Throbbing and bustling with life, Mumbai is a big and exciting city. With the largest port, two airports, a colossal film industry churning out the largest number of full-length feature films, a concentration of the textile industry, and with numerous towering skyscrapers, Mumbai is certainly the powerhouse of India. Sailing into Mumbai one sees its first landmark the Gateway of India, a massive archway of yellow basalt. The Marine Drive, which sweeps in a crescent along the city's long foam-flecked beach, shines brilliantly with the coming of the night; hence it's other name ‘the Queen's Necklace'. The Taraporewalla Aquarium on the Marine Drive is worth a visit for its fresh and saltwater marine life. The Hanging Gardens, on top of the Malabar Hill were laid out in 1881 and provide a bird's eye view of the city.

The beaches , which are very popular with all coming to this city, are equally delightful. When it comes to shopping Mumbai is a shopper's delight. Mumbai exports the largest number of cut and uncut diamonds as well as exquisite jewellery. Mumbai also has a legion of colorful boutiques where one can buy anything from crisp cottons to burnished silks at reasonable prices.

The eighteen-hole, par 70 course yardge 6223/5463, spread over an expanse of 90-acre, was founded in 1927 and was redesigned to international standards by the legendary five-time British Open champion Peter Thompson. Presidency's fairways are narrow and tight, but its greens are undoubtedly the best in the country. The real test is, however, the variable and shifting sea breeze, which could fox even the most experienced player. It is not a difficult course. It's not too long, not too narrow, and yet not an easy course to break par. (The fifteenth-hole is one of the most challenging . A 480 yard, par 5, a dog leg to the right, with a fairway trap strategically placed to catch the long hitter trying to cut the corner.)
