Digboi boasts of two modern wonders of the world-a hundred year old oil field still producing oil and the world's oldest operating oil refinery. Popularly known as the city of oil, oil was first found over here in 1879. The city's attractions include the War Cemetery and the National Oil Park. Digboi oil field is not just an oil field, but also an oil museum and a wildlife sanctuary of unsurpassed beauty. Digboi's Dibru Saikh owa Wildlife Sanctuary houses the extremely rare White Winged Wood Duck and many other migratory birds. The specialty of Dibru Saikhowa is its wild horses, called Feral Horses.

If you are among the supporters of eco tourism, then the Centenary Eco Park is the place to visit. It presents a glimpse of the rich and diverse flora and fauna that abounds in the state of Assam.

One can also plan excursions to the various picturesque places like Margherita, a center for tea gardens, plywood factories and coal mines: Ledo: Naharkatia, an oil well; or to Duliajan with tea gardens all around.

A Taste for Adventure: Digboi Club Golf Links 18 holes Golf course considered the best in the entire upper Assam, where all important tournaments are held. There are 8 other 9 hole Golf courses with tea estates between Dibrugarh and Doom Dooma.

The golf club is bordered by the popular Deihing forest reserve on three sides, with the fourth outlined by the National Highway-38 and the magnificent mountains of Arunachal Pradesh looming large on the horizon. The Reserve hosts a variety of flora and fauna including wild elephants, leopards, wild boar, barking deer, an assortment of snakes including the venomous king cobra and among birds, the hornbill and the parakeet.

It is common for wild beasts to wander the course, especially at night. Every fairway on the golf course has a drain running through it. A look into any of these drains will reveal an assortment of pugmarks. A discerning eye can notice a great many of those belonging to leopards and deer.
