Coimbatore Golf Club was started in 1977. Coimbatore golf club was formed by a group of golf lovers from Coimbatore jail started playing golf in a nine hole course at the heart of the city. Coimbatore Golf club came to reality with the help of Mr.K Rajagopal chairman of the Lakshmi Mills Group. His determination helped to bring quality golf club with high standard golf courses in Coimbatore. The golf course is situated at Chettipalayam, 16 kilometers from the city.
Down south, apart from Bangalore and Chennai, Coimbatore has a world- class facility in the Coimbatore Golf Club, Celebrating its silver jubilee year in 2002, the golf course has excellent fairways and some of the fastest greens in the country. The wind is a major factor here and can tatter any scorecard.
The course, a brainchild of Mr.K. Rajagopal, President of the Indian Golf Union for several years, was commissioned in 1977 with just four browns, but is a par-72 course with 18 superbly-maintained greens today.
The Coimbatore Golf Club was started in the year 1977. The present course at Chettipalayam is located 16 kilometers from the coimbatore city and is accessible by various roads. to large number peacocks.
