Panambur Beach, 10 km from Mangalore, is visited by large number of people during weekends and lies next to the New Mangalore Port. A group of kite makers and kite flyers from Mangalore, organize kite festivals at Panambur Beach which is usually conducted during the last week of April. The Mangalore Chemical and Fertilizers Factory and the Kudremukh Iron Ore Factory are located nearby.
