Ballooning is fast gaining popularity as an adventure sport in India. Floating in the air while the underlying vista changes from desert to sea and from cities to mountains, ballooning is ready to chance you a spine chilling experience in India.
A standard size balloon consists of a huge nylon balloon filled with about 77,000 cubic feet hot air. A typical balloon is made from a special fire resistant rip-stop nylon associated with load tape, steel wire ropes, an altimeter, a compass, cylinders of propane or butane gas, burners and ropes. A basket or gondola suspends below the balloon attached with a mesh of steel wire ropes and is made from resilient wicker. Since ballooning is not very old in India, local Indian markets most of the time fail to supply necessary ballooning equipments. Importing them from abroad is a good idea.
NOTE: Avoid wearing sarees, or any other traditional Indian clothes to make your ride comfortable and safe. One must be physically and mentally fit to enjoy the thrills of air ballooning.
The basket has no seats to sit, therefore standing for the duration of the flight may be panicky.
Do not take children as they may disturb the comfort and enjoyment of other passengers. The size of the basket is quiet small and the walls are usually four feet high, small children would hardly see the surroundings unless accompanied by an adult.
Clothing should match the climatic conditions- sturdy shoes, sunglasses, gloves and a cap.
Must take permission from the Balloon Club of India, before starting a ballooning trip in India.
